Sexual Assault Response Teams
(SART)
in
Southern Kennebec, Knox & Waldo counties will be working
on several projects this year. Here are some of the
things being planned
· A
SART and Community Awareness Project called,
Faces of Support.
This will be a visual project using
photography and interviews of local member of our Sexual
Assault Response Teams to illustrate the support that
exists in our community for survivors of sexual
violence.
· 4
members of the Southern Kennebec SART will be traveling
to Tampa Florida for the week long National SART
conference at the end of May. The Team received a
scholarship to send 4 of its members to this exciting
opportunity. www.sane-sart.com
· In
December there will be a SART, sexual abuse
investigations training in Augusta, topic to be
determined.
· The
SART in Knox & Waldo counties will be working with
Rachel in providing Internet safety awareness
presentations to the local school for both parents and
students.
These are just a few examples of the
great work that is being done by the dedicated group of
professionals who work on the Sexual Assault Response
Teams.
Community Outreach Opportunities
Brown Bag Lunch and Learn
My name
is Jennifer How and I am the Community Outreach Manager
and I am offering an educational and community awareness
opportunity to local businesses to sit with me to talk
about awareness of sexual violence in our community as
well as our services.
I
suggest the format of these meetings to be in the form
of a Brown Bag Lunch where we could sit down informally
and I will present some basic facts and answer
questions. The goal of these lunches is to create
awareness to your employees on how sexual violence
affects their community, prevention efforts, and
services for survivors of sexual violence and their
supporters.
If your business is interested in scheduling a Lunch and
Learn please call 377-1010
