Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Servers

Do I actually have to serve food to my table?
No, we will have a buffet available for dinner and each guest will get their own food.

What do I wear?
You can dress in any comfortable attire you choose, however, we encourage our servers and attendees to treat this as a special night out and dress in theme. Some individuals are choosing to deck out in Kentucky Derby attire and others are dressing casual, but it is completely up to you. We will be awarding a prize to the server with the best dressed derby attire.

What time should I show up?
Servers should arrive at the Civic Center no later than 5:00 PM.

How long am I expected to be at the event?
Each server should plan on staying until the end of the event at 10:00 PM.

Can I raise my tips before the event?
Yes, you can raise tips before the event on your fundraising page on our auction website. If you have any questions, please reach out to Samy (email below).

Can I bring a guest?
We're sorry, but we won't be able to accommodate any server guests unless they purchase a ticket to the event in advance.

Will there be food available for the servers?
Most of the evening you will be waiting on your table; however, we are encouraging our servers to take a short break to enjoy the buffet and eat with your table.

Will I be expected to serve more than one table?
No, but we may ask a few of our very experienced servers to take more than one table if necessary.

Can I carry drinks from the bar to my table?

The Augusta Civic Center only allows employees who have taken a tips course to serve drinks to guests. You can order the drinks for those at your table and someone from the Civic Center bar will bring them to your table.
