Community Education

Our community education programs are an important part of what we do at the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center: help our community learn how to make real change regarding sexual violence.

Our programs are available for and tailored to meet the needs of civic groups, social service providers, health care providers, and local businesses. We also can provide professional training programs to municipalities, first-responders, and other professionals to support our community in sexual violence prevention and response.

Our Community Education Programs

We work hard to implement an education program that will:
  • Dispel myths about sexual violence
  • Promote support for persons who have been sexually assaulted and/or abused
  • Increase community awareness of services for persons who have been sexually assaulted, and for their family members and concerned others
  • Engage professional partners in collaborative prevention and response
  • Increase community awareness of sexual violence prevention through: programming focused on shifting the cultural norms and traditions regarding sexuality, gender, and violence, and helping create environments that promote respect, equality, civility, healthy relationships, and healthy sexuality
Our community education work includes evidence-informed child sexual abuse prevention programs "People in the Know"  and The Children's Safety Partnership, programs that are for adults to learn about preventing sexual violence in their families and communities.

We also provide :
  • Sexual harassment prevention and response training
  • Sexual violence informational training
  • Training on healthy relationships
  • Internet safety for adults discussing the risks of social media and the internet for children
